Batu Lawi is a twin-peaked mountain in the Kelabit Highlands. The taller 'male' peak is 2046 metres above sea level, while the female summit is at 1850 metres, located in the district of Limbang at Sarawak, Malaysia. DAY 1
LAWAS | COTT RAVENS CAMP
Travel from Lawas, a town bordering Brunei heading to Ravens Cott Camp, about 100 km away using logging road which may take almost 5 hours 4X4 WD. This overland journey will passing aboriginal villages and hot spring (Merarap Hot Spring). A brief stop at Merarap hot spring for rest before continue to Ravens Cott Camp.
DAY 2
RAVENS COTT CAMP | BASE CAMP BATU LAWI
At Ravens Cott Camp, climber will get brief by Camp official about the route because the area is still an active logging area. From here, using 4X4 WD for another 1.5 hours before trekking another 3-4 hours to reach Base Camp Batu Lawi.
DAY 3
BASE CAMP | CAMP SADDLE
Trekking 5-6 hours from Base Camp, climber will arrive at Sadde Camp. Further 4 hours trekking, climber will arrive at the hill peak, climbers could see clearly the face of Batu Lawi. Then, the climber will ascend through saddle ridge leading to summit of this hill and from here, the climber could see clearly Mount Murut and little remain of "North Face Climbing Expedition" led by Sam Lightner.
DAY 4
SADDLE CAMP | SISTER'S PEAK
The Camp was named Camp saddle as it is between two peak: Man Peak and Sister's peak. From a distance, it looks like the "horse saddle". Altitude of this camp is 1830 meter above sea level. Climbers is advised to stay at Saddle Camp as the route to the summit is quite steep, narrow and strenuous. Trek to Sister's Peak only 45 minutes- 1 hour away. During ascending the summit, sometimes the climbers will notice the food can left behind by the British Army during world war II.
DAY 5
SISTER'S PEAK
Twin peaks of Mt Batu Lawi has a height of 1900 meter above sea level. Climbers could up close view of Male Peak of Mt Murud from this point. Tama Abu Mountain range also clearly seen from Sister's Peak.
DAY 6
DEPARTURE
Fly back to Miri for your next destinations.
