Borneo Round Circuit Tours

Borneo Round Circuit is the most comprehensive Borneo Tours. You will explore the East Malaysia, Brunei Sultanate and provinces of Indonesia's Kalimantan. This tours will take at least 14 days. Your arrival is at Kota Kinabalu and departure from Balikpapan. From Balikpapan, you have an option to travel further to Tarakan and Nunukan en-route to Tawau, Sabah.

RECOMMENDED 14D / 13N ITINERARY:

A. KOTA KINABALU (2 NIGHTS)

Kota Kinabalu is the state capital for Sabah. Kota Kinabalu is receiving more direct flight from Kuching, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and other international destinations. From Kota Kinabalu to Miri only takes you 55 minutes by flight and almost 1 day drive overland from Kota Kinabalu through Sindumin of Sabah and Lawas then bypassing Brunei before reaching Miri Resort City.

B. MIRI RESORT CITY (1 NIGHT)

Miri, known also as Oil Town. The first oil well in Malaysia is founded here and weekend gateway for Bruneian. The distance almost 850 km from Kuching (about 12 - 14 hours overland) and 1 hour 55 minutes (domestic flight)

C. MULU NATIONAL PARK (2 NIGHTS)

Mulu National Park is popular with its 4 showcaves; Sarawak Chamber is the largest known natural cave chamber in the world by area.  Malaysian Airlines ( MASwings ) operates scheduled services from Miri, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu to Mulu using 72 seater ATR72 aircraft. From Miri, domestic flight is only 30 minutes to Mulu.

D. KUCHING ( 2 NIGHTS)

Kuching is the state capital of Sarawak. From here, you will have an option to take land transport (overland) to Pontianak (about 8 - 10 hours) or by domestic flight (40 minutes).

E. PONTIANAK (2 NIGHT)

Pontianak is the provincial capital for West Kalimantan (KALBAR), Indonesia. From Pontianak, you could take a ferry / flight to Jakarta and other part of Kalimantan. Pontianak is infamous for Equator Monument,  which sits right on this invisible line that separates the earth's southern from the northern hemisphere.

F. BANJARMASIN (2 NIGHT)

Banjarmasin is the capital and the pulsating heart of the province of South Kalimantan. The largest and most beguiling city of Kalimantan - the Indonesian territory on Borneo – it rests gingerly over a labyrinth of canals thus giving it its illustrious nickname as the city of a thousand rivers. Located on a delta near the junction of the Barito and Martapura rivers, Banjarmasin has long been renowned as a center for gems and precious stones, particularly for rare diamonds and rubies. Overland journey to Balikpapan may take 14 hours and 15 hours to Samarinda and by flight from Banjarmasin to Samarinda approximately 45 minutes and Banjarmasin to Balikpapan approximately 55 minutes.

G. SAMARINDA (1 NIGHTS)

Samarinda is the capital of the Indonesian province of East Kalimantan and lies on the banks of the Mahakam River.  Samarinda to Balikpapan is about 121 km or 2.5 hours overland journey. Flight may take you 30 minutes to reach Balikpapan. 

H. BALIKPAPAN (1 NIGHTS)

The town of Balikpapan is known as the Oil City of Indonesia. Oil and other mining industries are the reasons why nearly all domestic airlines fly to Balikpapan rather than to the provincial capital of Samarinda.  Balikpapan can be reached by flight directly form Jakarta, Manado and Surabaya as well as form Tarakan. If you are coming through Tarakan and Nunukan Indonesia to Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia; ferry services are available. There are 9 daily ferry services from Nunukan which will take approximately about 1 hour journey and 2 ferry services from Tarakan which will take about 3 hours. There is no air services from Tawau to other parts of Kalimantan.
