Borneo island, the third largest island in the world. The home to three countries; Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia. The biggest share is Indonesia with its four provinces known as West Kalimantan (KALBAR), Central Kalimantan (KALTEN), South Kalimantan (KALSEL) and East Kalimantan (KALTIM). Malaysia, commonly known as East Malaysia with its two states; Sarawak and Sabah, which facing the South China Sea and Brunei Sultanate, the tiny yet oil-rich nation is sandwiched between Sarawak and Sabah.
BRUNEI; the capital city is Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB). Oil-rich nation with mostly Malay-Muslim country. Brunei divided into Brunei-Muara District, Tutong District, Kuala Belait District, Temburong District.
SARAWAK; the largest state in Malaysia. The capital city is Kuching and more known with its inter-cultural diversity and rugged rainforest
SABAH; the land below the wind, the capital city is Kota Kinabalu and more popular with the Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in South East Asia.
WEST KALIMANTAN (KALBAR); the Capital city is Pontianak, is the city on the Equator line of 0 degree lies on the river bank of Kapuas, the longest and largest river in Borneo and among the longest in the world. Long known as a busy trading port facing the South China Sea, Pontianak is a cosmopolitan city where various races and ethnic groups live peacefully side by side. Malays and Dayaks are the major ethnic groups here with Bugis, Bataks, Minangkabaus, Javanese, Chinese and Arabs making up the city’s population.
CENTRAL KALIMANTAN (KALTEN); the capital city is Palangkaraya, dominated by the indigenous Dayaks, is known as the lung of the world for its vast and fertile tropical jungles and forests. Inhabited by almost 300,000 people. English is rarely spoken, so you will need to learn a few words of basic Bahasa Indonesia to get around.
SOUTH KALIMANTAN (KALSEL); the capital city is Banjarmasin, the largest city in Kalimantan. More known as city with thousand river and inhabited largely by Banjarese ethnic. Banjarmasin is synonymous with diamonds and precious stones.
EAST KALIMANTAN (KALTIM); the capital city is Samarinda, lies on the bank of Mahakam River inhabited about 800000 population, Samarinda's population includes Chinese; Banjarese, who are native to the southern part of the island; Kutais, who are native to the area around Samarinda; and Manu Muslims. KALTIM more popular for its oil-rich city of Balikpapan.
