Kuching to Serian is about 30 minutes of 56km-long dual-carriage ways and continue partly by two-lane highway which begins at Padawan / Samarahan traffic-light junction. The two-lane will again continue as dual-carriage ways (around 10 km after dual-lane road after the traffic light). However, it is a good paved road.
From Kuching, you will passing several satellite towns, such as Mile 3, Mile 4, Kota Sentosa (previously known as 7th Mile). After Kota Sentosa traffic-light, straight ahead is dual-carriage ways road leading to Serian. Along the way to Serian, there are suburban towns, such as Tarat, Tapah and Siburan. Serian to Tebedu Checkpoints is about 50km or about 40 minutes of two-lane roads. Serian is a transit town for most Indonesians who wish to come to Kuching and other towns in Sarawak as well for those wish to continue their journey to Brunei and Sabah.
